Rendlesham Forest

This is a special place indeed. The words ‘’ I want to believe ‘’ or ‘’ Trust no one ‘’

( From the X-Files) come to mind here. We have all heard of Roswell in America, yes, the famous UFO crash site.

Well, Rendlesham is our famous crash site!

It was the early hours of 26th of December 1980 when multiple security officers from the United States Air Force stationed at RAF Woodbridge. Reported seeing several ‘’ lights ‘’ .

They investigated the surrounding forest. They described seeing several glowing metalic objects. When they approached one of the objects, it appeared to be moving through the trees. The animals at the nearby farm went into a complete frenzy.

An hour later another report by someone else who phoned the police about seeing ''strange'' lights being seen over the Orfold Ness lighthouse several miles away at the coast.

At sunrise on the morning of the 26th the security men returned to a small clearing near the eastern edge of the forest. They found three small imprints on the ground in a triangular pattern. Broken branches and burn marks were also found nearby. Later that morning the police arrived, who were of the opinion an animal could have made those imprints.

Spooky right!? I don’t know much about UFO’s they sound like flying tennis balls to me! On my visit I am happy to report that I did not see any flying objects besides sticks thrown by my owner. Me and my cat brother did find some strange evidence that could perhaps be proof that aliens are real.

The forest itself is a lovely day out. The paths are excellent, well-kept and enjoyable for everyone. There are activities for the young children, and great tracks for mountain bikers.

Our one and only critic about the place was the parking. It wasn’t clear and they only accepted coins. These days. Especially now. Not everyone has cash or coins on them. We happily pay for the upkeep of the forest. But they should make card payments available.

But all in all, great day out! For those UFO hunters out there, perhaps more exciting at night!
